Helius Announces MediaWrite Software
New Product to Manage Data Content and Guarantee
Simultaneous Distribution
LAS VEGAS, NAB CONFERENCE — April 23, 2001 — Helius
Inc., the premier technology developer for satellite data
solutions, today unveiled its newest offering-MediaWrite(TM),
a software package that enables content and media file distribution
through satellite and landline transfers. MediaWrite enables
the transmission of data files from a data manager to a group
of end users, simplifying the distribution and management
of data for corporate IS managers and content providers. The
software is facilitated through a customized browser-based
management console, making MediaWrite a simple tool to deploy.
The Helius distribution software joins a strong
and impressive portfolio, which includes a newly-issued patent,
trade and industry secrets and valuable intellectual property.
Myron Mosbarger, president and chief executive
of Helius, says, "The release of the MediaWrite software has
been an important step forward for us. We have been known
in the satellite data distribution industry as a leader in
development for router software and technology. By leveraging
our router expertise, we increase our offering to the satellite
and terrestrial data distribution industry."
MediaWrite consists of three components that manage
the stages for the distribution of data. They are MediaBuilder,
MediaSender and MediaReceiver.
MediaBuilder is a browser-based application that
enables the creation of catalog entries, media files or data
packages. The creator of data content assembles files in the
creation module and sends them to MediaSender. MediaSender
gathers the file content and pushes it over satellite or landline
connectors. The files are sent in stages or packets to MediaReceiver.
This last component assembles the data and forwards it on
to the end user. The data can be sent to unlimited viewers
who are authorized to receive it.
The MediaWrite software has various levels of
functionality within its model. The features range from a
guaranteed packet delivery transmission with or without e-mail
confirmation to a best effort delivery package. Users can
choose from various features to customize the product to fit
their needs.
Licensing for MediaWrite is available in packaged
options and on a per receiver basis. For more information
on the licensing schedule, contact Richard Jackman at 801-764-9020.
Helius will demonstrate the new product at the NAB (National
Association of Broadcasters) 2001 conference in Las Vegas.
