CompUSA Signs with Ten-TV for Technical Training

TEN-TV Offers CompUSA "Life-cycle" Training Services to Receive, Develop and Broadcast Learning Programs at More Than 200 Locations

NEW YORK — The Technology Education Network, Inc. (TEN-TV) today announced CompUSA Inc. (NYSE:CPU) as the newest, and one of the largest, members of its IT training network. As a leading national computer retailer with nearly $6 billion in annual retail sales and 20,000 employees, including 1,300 trainers, CompUSA provides a compelling audience to which software and hardware vendors will broadcast technical and sales training courses via digital satellite.

"With TEN-TV we can receive training directly from computer products vendors or develop our own broadcasts," said Al HurlebausSam Crowley, executive , vice president of ostore perations at CompUSA. "We have satellite equipment at all 211 locations because we believe training and informing team members translates to higher customer satisfaction and increased customer loyalty. In addition to training our CompUSA team members, we can also use TEN-TV to share information with our business partners and customers."

"TEN-TV enables CompUSA to take advantage of the full training life-cycle," explained Bruce Hanson, president and CEO of TEN-TV. "Not only do they receive valuable training content for internal trainers, but by partnering with TEN-TV they also become a contributor and can create customized training courses for their different customer sets. CompUSA locations are first-class training facilities and we expect this to be a long and mutually beneficial partnership."

Each CompUSA Computer SuperstoreSM has a classroom training facility that is equipped to receive TEN-TV’s training broadcasts via digital satellite. TEN-TV content consists of information, education and training programs from vendors such as Microsoft, Lotus and Compaq, from IT research and media companies such as GartnerGroup and CRN, as well as TEN-TV’s proprietary educational programs.

CompUSA team members and guests will receive training and informational broadcasts from various hardware and software vendors they support and from content the company produces itself. Because of the large number of CompUSA locations, CompUSA has created an entire satellite subnetwork by default. CompUSA can leverage this investment for customized or proprietary broadcasts to employees, internal trainers or specific customer sets. Internal broadcasts will help CompUSA promote a consistent culture across its nationwide network of stores and offices and throughout its business units.
